The Asian American Drug Abuse Program (AADAP) is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Coral Head Inc., the owner of all trademarks associated with Hawaiian Island Creations (HIC) — a globally recognized Hawaiian lifestyle surf brand.

This collaboration aims to drive awareness and action in support of drug prevention, treatment, and recovery while promoting healthy, active lifestyles within the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities and beyond.

This dynamic partnership will launch with a co-branded apparel and lifestyle product line, blending AADAP’s mission of fostering recovery and resilience with HIC’s connection to the natural beauty and wellness-focused lifestyle of Hawaii. Through sales and special events, both organizations will raise funds to support AADAP’s vital treatment, prevention, and outreach services in Southern California.

AADAP Interim Chief Executive Officer Rhea K. Mac expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Hawaiian Island Creations in our mission to change lives and support families impacted by substance abuse, to collectively inspire longevous healthy living. This partnership allows us to reach more young people and their families with a positive message that embodies AADAP’s core value of ohana — actualized through an inviting event that promotes wellness, selfcare, community strength, and resilience.

“By combining our efforts, we hope to demonstrate recovery and healthy lifestyles in action. We are confident this event will empower our communities to know that a healthy lifestyle is both tangible and trending — in the immediacy and long-term.”

Founded in 1972, AADAP has been a trailblazer in providing accessible substance abuse prevention, education, and treatment services to underserved communities, particularly within Asian and Pacific Islander populations. Beyond substance abuse treatment, recovery and prevention, AADAP offers housing support, employment services, and mental health resources, empowering individuals to build and maintain healthy, fulfilling lives.

Hawaiian Island Creations’ Craig Hara echoed similar sentiments about the new alliance: “HIC has always been about embracing the outdoors and fostering a life filled with purpose and aloha. Partnering with AADAP aligns perfectly with our values, as we share the goal of creating a healthy, drug-free future for our communities. Together, we can make a real difference by inspiring youth and families to live actively and embrace recovery.”

To launch the partnership, AADAP and HIC will host a special pop-up event on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at AADAP Headquarters, 2900 Crenshaw Blvd., Los Angeles. The event will feature Hawaiian entertainment, a popular food truck, and a vast selection of discounted HIC lifestyle merchandise. A portion of proceeds will benefit AADAP’s recovery and prevention programs.

In addition, AADAP will host a series of educational and recreational events, wellness workshops, and family days, open to all community members. These events will feature testimonials from individuals in recovery, offering inspiration and resources to those seeking a similar path.

This partnership comes at a critical moment, as communities nationwide continue to face challenges related to addiction and substance abuse. By harnessing HIC’s universal appeal and AADAP’s essential services, this collaboration seeks to empower individuals of all ages to lead fulfilling, substance-free lives.

HIC was founded in 1971 as a surf shop in Kailua that eventually sold the HIC name to their licensee Coral Heal Inc. in 1999. Coral Head has worked to transform the brand into a Hawaiian lifestyle brand that continues to produce high-quality surfing and active lifestyle apparel but has seen the need to expand into multi-levels of distribution to make the brand available to the masses. Known globally for its connection to nature, and adventure, HIC embodies the spirit of aloha and promotes a life of wellness, sustainability, and purpose.
