At Senshin Buddhist Temple, Bon Odori is followed by Sentō Shōgon, the lighting of oil lamps in memory of loved ones.

Senshin Buddhist Temple, 1311 W. 37thSt. in Los Angeles, will hold its annual Bon Odori on Saturday, July 6. The schedule is as follows:

4:30 p.m. Hatsubon or first Obon service after the passing of a loved one.

7 p.m.: Bon Odori. Attendees wearing yukata and happi coats will dance around the yagura as taiko drummers keep the beat. Raffle drawing after intermission.

9 p.m.: Omairi in Hondo and Sentō Shōgon, in which 1,000 oil lamps are lit in memory of loved ones.

9:30 p.m.: Otoki and Horaku. Light meal and performance by Kinnara Taiko with guest performers.

Chili rice, chashu bao, soda, water, and shaved ice during the dancing.

Free parking is available across the street at Weemes Elementary School. Entrance on 36th Place.
