Anna May Wong

Media Action Network for Asian Americans (MANAA) invites supporters and the public to “Unmasking Anna May Wong” on Sunday, July 21, at the Chinese American Museum, 425 N. Los Angeles St. at El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument in Los Angeles.

Sign-in from 11 to 11:30 p.m.; program featuring Anna Wong, the niece of Anna May Wong, from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.; viwing of exhibition from 12 to 3 p.m.

The exhibition honors Chinese American actress Anna May Wong (1905-1961), a trailblazer and icon who challenged conventions against all odds and paved the way for greater diversity and representation. Co-curated by CAM and “Not Your China Doll” author Katie Gee Salisbury, the exhibition looks behind the curtain and explores her life beyond Hollywood. It will be on view until Jan 26, 2025.
